Cloud computing is a great resource that provides easy access, reliable uptime, and fast scalability. Cloud computing also comes with it's risks and security concerns that we need to be careful of. Because of this, we have built a list of approved services for your use.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology define cloud computing as, "Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction." (NIST 800-145)
All Services listed below are licensed and managed by FIU Division of IT. Any other services not listed here must get approval from the IT Security Office prior to usage or implementation. Storing FIU Data on personal services is not permitted.
Data Classification
All electronic data that contains sensitive information should be protected to ensure only the authorized users have access to it. Different levels of data need to be protected in different ways. To ensure all data is protected adequately, we have built the data classification standard below to ensure all data is properly secured.
Instructional and Research Computing Center
