How it works

With two-factor authentication, only you can access your account on a trusted device. When you want to sign in to your FIU account, you'll need to provide two pieces of information: your password and a secondary verification through a trusted device. By performing a push notification, entering a code, or using a physical token, you're verifying your identity.

Because your password alone is no longer enough to access your account, two-factor authentication dramatically improves the security of your FIU account.

2FA Methods

Duo Push (recommended)

Duo Push is our most commonly-used second-factor authentication method, thanks to its simplicity and reliability. Users just download the Duo Mobile app and are automatically prompted to confirm each login attempt - all it takes is a single tap.

Tokens and Passcodes

Users can confirm their identity using a secure passcode generated by a physical token, a mobile device, or a support administrator.

Manage your account

You can manage your 2FA trusted devices, and other account information from your FIU Account page.

Getting started with 2FA

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) increases security on your FIU account by requiring you to log on by using both your password and your device (e.g. mobile phone or hardware token). Because it requires two steps to log in, 2FA offers more account security than a password alone - it provides added protection for both individuals and the FIU community at large.
